Since 1995, the MAK Depot of Contemporary Art in the Gefechtsturm Arenbergpark has offered an ideal opportunity to show important parts of the MAK Collection of Contemporary Art on an area totaling 4,000 square meters. Spatial interventions developed specifically for the MAK by internationally acclaimed artists such as Vito Acconci, Ilya Kabakov, Hans Kupelwieser, Eva Schlegel, and Chris Burden and objects by artists such as Renée Green, Kiki Smith, Bruno Gironcoli, Liz Larner Béatrice Stähli, Birgit Jürgenssen, and Franz West can be permanently presented in an adequate context. Artist's editions by Christian Boltanski, Gilbert & George, Jenny Holzer, Rebecca Horn, Juan Muñoz, Bruce Nauman, James Turrell, etc., as well as examples of experimental architectural projects and manifestations, such as works by Raimund Abraham, Coop Himmelb(l)au, Günther Domenig, Philip Johnson, Thom Mayne, Eric Owen Moss, Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky, and Lebbeus Woods, are also on display.
