Educational Projects

In addition to our regular educational program on the permanent collection displays and current exhibitions, there are ongoing personal and media projects in the field of art education. We focus on encouraging young people to participate as well as on projects involving digital educational approaches.

Die Wiener Kuchl [The Viennese Kitchen]

In the context of the “Hunger for Art and Culture” program “Culture-Transfair,” designers, social workers, and educators worked with homeless people. The cooperation led to the development of the DIY Wiener Kuchl.

The MAK on Google Arts & Culture

With numerous high definition scans of its collection highlights and with virtual tours through the museum and its branch Geymüllerschlössel the MAK participates in the Google Arts & Culture platform.

A research project by fluxguide GmbH and the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Institute of Art Sciences and Art Education, Specialist Didactics Department) in cooperation with whatchado GmbH and the MAK, which is dedicated to the question of how the application of wearables can enrich individuals’ experience of museums.

60PLUS

How does an older age group perceive the MAK? 60PLUS is an inclusive design project that draws upon the extensive experience of expert users in order to make the MAK more attractive for all visitors.

Friedrich Kiesler und ich (?)

A participatory project with three Viennese school classes focusing on the creative work of the architect, artist, designer, set designer, and theorist Friedrich Kiesler. The resulting works were displayed as an integral part of the show FREDERICK KIESLER: Life Visions (15 Jun – 2 Oct 2016), as the project had started several months before the opening of the exhibition.

Der Traum vom Raum [Dream Space]

During the VIENNA BIENNALE 2015: Ideas for Change, the MAK worked together with the Vienna Family Association in the context of the project Bauwerk:Stadt—My City 2051. The partnership continued in 2016 with a participative design project in a recreational space provided by the Vienna Family Association for young people.
