2016 was another record-breaking year for the MAK. The annual program 2017—the first of our joint management—is equally challenging.
At the same time, it has to be ensured that the MAK is permanently strengthened as one of the world-wide most important museums
of applied arts within the reform process of the federal museums. The MAK aims at inspiring you and providing you orientation.
For this purpose, best possible visibility and enhancement of the unique collection are as much a requirement as exhibitions
which enthrall with their quality. The largest project of the year is the second VIENNA BIENNALE organized in cooperation
with pivotal partners of the MAK. Therefore, the MAK is a memory of the past, a forum of the present, and a laboratory of
the future, which aims at shaping a new, Digital Modernity worth living with the means of design, architecture, and contemporary
