Lectures / Talks / Discussions

In addition to offering a diverse program of exhibitions, the MAK also functions as a place of discourse. It is in this spirit that lectures, discussions, panel discussions, and presentations serve to accompany and expand upon the museum’s current projects. Furthermore, lecture series such as changing architecture and In Focusregularly give in-depth treatment to relevant contemporary themes. The list of invited speakers frequently includes artists, designers, and architects who present their current projects and engage in dialog with the audience.
MAK Lecture Series changing architecture
From 2003 till 2011 the MAK has been inviting leading protagonists in the contemporary architecture scene to deliver lectures on their views on architecture. The title of the lecture series corresponds with the MAK’s understanding of architecture: not only is architecture subject to constant change, it is, itself, involved in shaping the world. Architectural transformations have an immediate effect on twenty-first century society.
In Focus
The MAK lecture series “In Focus” discussed the role of museums in a rapidly changing art world.
