22.4.2003—31.5.2003
International Exhibition

"DAVAJ!" is the first exhibition which does not only focus on the metropolises of Moscow and St. Petersburg but also includes works by artists from other parts of Russia - from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok.
To do justice to these creative energies, Peter Noever and Tina Bauermeister assembled a team of Russian curators which would present the works by the members of the "Generation P(epsi)", as cult author Victor Pelevin called it - the first generation that grew up without censorship and manipulation by the state - in a series of genuine fragmentary glimpses.

In Cheboksary, Chuvashia, where "DAVAJ!" was shown in February 2003, the exhibition about the radical Russian art scene caused quite a stir and triggered passionate discussions. Nevertheless, the mayor of Izhevsk, Viktor Balakin, and the director of the Kalashnikov Museum Nadjeschda Mikhailova took the risk to show the works by the young Russian artists prone to producing themselves: paintings, objects, installations, photographs, and videos.
