The British artist Liam Gillick describes the project ‘Dedalic Convention’ he developed together with 16 international artists and the London curator Annette Kosak as ‘a cross-border rumour visualised without a clear focus’. For this project, which will be shown at the Salzburger Kunstverein after being presented at the MAK, Gillick invited various contemporary artists such as Philippe Parreno, Pae White, and Gary Webb, theoreticians like Stefan Kalmar and Peio Alguirre, musicians Ritchie Hawtin, Scott Olson, and Markus Weisbeck, as well as filmmakers Nanni Moretti and Pia Ronnicke to develop a history-of-ideas program exploring the development of content by means of presentations, films, music, performances, and improvisations. The number of artists and their manifold approaches guarantee a wide range of deviating and complex points-of-views.

The presentation will see the participants articulate different attitudes towards art, music, and visual production. ‘Dedalic Convention’ focuses on artistic interventions rather than on traditional exhibition forms highlighting different objects.
