The artist Jun Yang, born in China in 1975 and living in Vienna since the early 1980s, explores the synthesis of different cultural contexts and searches for possible identification figures and attributes. The emphasis is on a self-investigative view determined by personal experience and media associations. Drawing on everyday procedures, the exhibition aims at the construction and reconstruction of a childhood in which the restaurant owned by the family figures as living room, kitchen, meeting place, and cultural epicenter.

Text, images, video, language, and space focus on the experience of being away from home and living the life of a stranger, as a resident at the Mackey House in Los Angeles, for example. Living abroad intensifies adopted habits, challenges them, and allows for a new, changed order of things.
