In response to enormous public demand, we are extending KLIMT’S MAGIC GARDEN until 7 October 2018!
7.2.2018—7.10.2018
MAK Permanent Collection Contemporary Art
On the centenary of the death of Gustav Klimt (1862–1918), the MAK is focusing on the artist’s designs for the mosaic frieze—a highlight of its collection—in the dining room of the Stoclet House in Brussels: KLIMT’S MAGIC GARDEN is a virtual reality experiment, inspired by Klimt’s masterpieces Expectation and Fulfillment. The virtual reality artist and filmmaker Frederick Baker has used high-resolution digital photographic material to create a fantastic virtual world in which visitors can embark on an interactive filmic journey.

Reserve your time-slot now to guarantee you won’t have to wait! The virtual reality tour through KLIMT'S MAGIC GARDEN can be visited by four people at a time. One of the four virtual reality headsets is reserved for reservations, the other headsets are freely accessible (waiting times reserved). In the MAK the Tree of Life is in Bloom! A Collective Wall Mosaic Inspired by Gustav Klimt

The MAK invites children and the young at heart to contribute to the growth and flowering of the tree of life. In a large-scale wall installation, all can join together in making the tree bloom—inspired by Gustav Klimt’s designs—by creating their own magnetic mosaic pieces and attaching them to a “Klimt Swirly Whirly Tree” that will grow continually over the duration of KLIMT’S MAGIC GARDEN. Whether you want to be inspired by Klimt’s shapes and colors or come up with something of your own is entirely up to you and your imagination.
