International Exhibition

Label design, CD inserts, and inlay cards for musical legends such as the Rolling Stones, David Byrne, Lou Reed, Aerosmith, and Pat Metheny mark Stefan Sagmeister's international career. After studies at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and a Fulbright scholarship to the Pratt Institute in New York, the designer, who was born in Bregenz, founded Studio Sagmeister Inc. in Manhattan in 1993. His numerous awards include four Grammy nominations for music packaging. Sagmeister's cover designs visualize musical contents; through traditional techniques such as typography and processing, they capture the public's attention. The MAK exhibition documents Stefan Sagmeister's creative and innovative potential after his one-year sabbatical, which he has dedicated to experimental design projects.
