Guided Tours

The MAK offers a diverse program of guided tours and educational activities for adults, small children and youth. Collection curators, exhibition curators, and art educators lead visitors through the Permanent Collection, temporary exhibitions, and the various branches of the MAK.
No prior registration is required to take part in the regularly held tours at the MAK and its branches.
The tour fee is € 2 per individual, excepting children up to age 6.

Walks through the MAK

Walks through the MAK covering the highlights of the Permanent Collection take place every Saturday at 11 a.m. (German) and every Sunday at 12 noon (English).

Special exhibitions

The educational program for temporary exhibitions includes a continuous information service and short guided tours on Saturday afternoons, as well as guided tours on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. For details, please see the exhibitions’ respective pages on our website or consult the

MAK expert-guided tours

On selected Thursdays, we offer expert tours of current exhibitions led by the MAK’s collection and exhibition curators; these always start at 5 p.m. For details, please see the exhibitions’ respective pages on our website or consult the

MAK Seniors

every third Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m.

Tours of current exhibitions or focused on specific themes of the collection are finished off with a discussion that follows at the ÖSTERREICHER IM MAK restaurant.
Total price € 12. Advance registration required.

Themed tours at the MAK branches

From May to November, walks and themed tours through the MAK Tower* and the MAK’s Geymüllerschlössel branch take place every Saturday and Sunday.

* Due to unforeseen but necessary renovation work, the MAK Tower / Gefechtsturm Arenbergpark is closed until further notice. We apologize and thank you for your understanding.

Special and group tours

The MAK also offers custom-tailored special tours which can be scheduled to suit your needs!
Both the content and length of such tours can be adapted to your preferences, and special tours can be held in German or in English (for further languages: please inquire).

MAK NITE Lab

The event series MAK NITE Lab is a platform for experiments and experimental designs. MAK NITE Lab is the MAK’s open laboratory for intercreativity held on selected Tuesday evenings; it serves as a practical field of experimentation for the contemporary scene and features artistic stances from contemporary art, (fashion) design, performance, architecture, media and audiovisual art.

Design Collection

The MAK Design Collection was established in 2005 and represents a broad spectrum of design output from Austria. The design concept in question encompasses a multifaceted range of aspects, from industrial production and handcrafted manufacture to unique art objects and prototypes, from utility objects and fashion to graphic arts and media design.

MAK Branch Geymüllerschlössel

Past and Present in Dialog
At the Geymüllerschlössel, a jewel of Biedermeier architecture in Vienna’s Pötzleinsdorf neighborhood, the MAK shows furniture from the Empire and Biedermeier periods, old Viennese clocks from the collection of Franz Sobek, and interventions by contemporary artists and designers.
