The MAK exhibition "MEHR LICHT. Targetti Light Art Collection at MAK" presents the world-famous collection of artworks of light for the first time ever in Austria. Following an idea by Paolo Targetti, artists have been invited since 1988 to create works that deal with light both as subject matter and material.
Well-known artists from ten different countries, such as Olafur Eliasson, Kristin Jones/Andrew Ginzel, Anne and Patrick Poirier, Gilberto Zorio, Rivka Rinn, Vittorio Messina, Donatella Mei, Lena Liv, Werner Klotz, Fabrizio Corneli, but also emerging young artists such as Shinji Yamamoto, Attilio Tono, Ferrario Freres or Fabrizio Rivola are represented in the Targetti Light Art Collection.
The collection was inspired, as Paolo Targetti put it, "by the wish to expand to art the dimensions of world that cannot be restricted to the limited fields of science and technology."
The Targetti Light Art Collection, which is housed in the La Sfacciata Lighting Academy, is curated by Amnon Barzel, former director of the Museo Pecci in Prato and of the Berlin Jewish Museum.
