MAK-it! feat. L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts by Van Cleef & Arpels: Gouaché in High Jewelry Class—The Light

A gouaché is a painting which guides all craftsmen involved in the creation of a High Jewelry piece—mock-up makers, jewelers, gemologists, and stone setters. The gouaché technique consists of representing the three-dimensional volumes of a piece of jewelry on a flat drawing.

Three elements must be considered in the creation of a gouaché painting: light, color, and finally, the texture.

In this course on gouaché dedicated to light, learn how to position light and shadow using different shades of colors. Experience the designer’s gestures while painting your own gouaché, and after the class bring your drawing home.
