The MAK FORUM is a flexible use area that is the “heart” of the MAK DESIGN LAB. It is understood as a meeting place, an exhibition space, and an experimental area. Together with designers and partners from the fields of research and the economy, the MAK FORUM also investigates current design questions and processes them in new formats.

As an event room the MAK FORUM is home to lectures, discussions, and film screenings, but it also offers space for new approaches to the topics discussed in the MAK DESIGN LAB and is a place to test exhibition and educational formats.

At regular intervals throughout the year, we offer both children and adults the opportunity to communicate directly with designers as well as to design and produce functional objects by themselves, and then test their suitability for daily use. Consequently, the meaning of design becomes quite literally “palpable.”
