EAT LOVE

Tomorrow’s Food and Food Spaces

Fri, 28.05.2021–Sun, 03.10.2021

MAK – Museum of Applied Arts

A joint project by the Vienna Business Agency and the MAK

At the Vienna Business Agency, everything in 2020/21 revolves around how we want to eat. Under the motto “Let's talk food”, the VBA is analysing the entire food cycle – from the fields to the shops and, finally, to our plates – to explore how urban food supplies might look in future. Therefore, in keeping with the overall theme of this year’s Vienna Biennale, the topic chosen by the Vienna Business Agency is EAT LOVE. Tomorrow’s Food and Food Spaces.

In response to a specific challenge, the Viennese creative scene has developed ecological and socially sustainable solutions for the ever-continuing transformation processes identifiable in our diets, our consumer behaviour and associated methods of production. The best ideas will be showcased for three days and three nights at the Vienna Biennale, at various locations in Vienna and at Vienna Design Week.

EAT LOVE. Tomorrow’s Food and Food Spaces takes the form of a prototype petrol station in a post-fossil fuel age. This mobile studio/petrol station is part of CLIMATE CARE. Reimagining Shared Planetary Futures, an exhibition at the MAK curated by Hubert Klumpner. Visitors can fill up their minds with new ideas and get involved themselves – not only at the Biennale but also at four other locations in Vienna as the mobile studio tours the city during the Biennale.

The dialogue surrounding the urgent issues of food supplies will continue with a symposium Planet Matters Symposium, which will delve into the questions raised by the EAT LOVE project in further detail.

Curator: Hubert Klumpner, Michael Walczak
Curatorial Team: Elisabeth Noever-Ginthör, Alice Jacubasch (Vienna Business Agency); Astrid Böhacker (MAK)

Exhibition: MAK Exhibition Hall (ground floor) and other venues in Vienna
