Research Project

The MAK—History of an Institution

Project Manager: Kathrin Pokorny-Nagel, Head, MAK Library and Works on Paper Collection/Archive
Project Editor: Hannah Gasperl
Started on 1 March 2020 and planned to run for at least three years, the project aims to offer a historiographic overview of all of the MAK’s activities from 1863 to 2020—to include exhibitions, presentations, events, etc. To this end, all available analog and digital sources will be evaluated and collated in a databank that will network historical processes through cross-references and links to the original documents. Of special importance is filling in historical gaps—in particular between 1922 and 1955, for during this period no in-house journals were published. The results are to be made available online.
