Greg Lynn, who served his architectural apprenticeship with Peter Eisenman, is considered as a pioneer and one of the best known representatives of a new generation of architects, whose theoretical basis and design practice revolutionized the use of the computer as a design tool. The founding of his own office, Greg Lynn FORM, dates back to 1994, a time when computer-aided design began to hold sway in architectural production.

The guiding principle of Lynn's work is the incorporation of time and motion in architectural form finding, the result of which are computer-generated amorphous bodies with strong deformations that are the visible effect of the prevailing spatiotemporal dynamics in a given location. Unlike traditional architecture in which the gravity factor is accounted for only in terms of verticality and statics, Lynn's designs represent a synthesis of complex multidirectional force vectors.

The MAK exhibition entitled "Intricate Surface" provides an insight into the multi-faceted work of the architect.

As of Fall 2002, Greg Lynn has been appointed to teach Architectural Design at the Vienna University of Applied Arts.
