MAK Textiles Study Collection
"Prima Vista" shows the most interesting purchases and gifts acquired by the MAK Textile Study Colelction between 1987 and 1997. Extravagant dresses from the 20s, colorful fabrics and plastic handbags from the 50s, eccentric hats and accessoires provide insights into 20th century fashion and textile design. Another aspect of the exhibition are works from the Acedemy of Applied Arts: dresses from the master-class in fashion design taught by Jean Charles de Castelbajac (Rosalind Krammer, Elisabeth Kautinger), liturgical vestments (Dietmar Kanitz, Susanne Kallinger) after designs by students of various masterclasses such as Ron Arad and textile art: wall hangings (Eva Königseder, Gerda Peer) and floor carpets (Gerda Peer). "Prima Vista", already the fourth exhibition of the MAK Study Collection of Textiles, clearly shows that in addition to purchases gifts contribute considerably towards a high-quality expansion of a museum collection.
