As a conceptual artist, Ganahl combines academic, pedagogic, and artistic methods and is concerned with current themes of modern history, living environments, and cultural coding as well as language and media. His intensive occupation with language is shown in interview projects, for example, whereby he examines linguistic identities of differentiated users in the context of origins, education, and class. Ganahl also works explicitly in the electronic space in order, for example, to negotiate cultural transformations and threatening phenomenons, such as racism, in the form of online discussion forums. In his work, conceived for the MAK Gallery, Rainer Ganahl is concerned with the historical figure of Lenin, links this with the Dadaists and creates a tragic-comic category of history.
