Monastic crafts are examples of religious folk art that were already being produced as early as the late 17th century, primarily in convents.

In this three-day workshop, Leni Frodl and Elisabeth Mayrhofer will introduce participants to the traditional techniques of monastic crafts. With great attention to detail and under expert guidance, participants will create personalized pieces: a floral bouquet or a so-called “house blessing.” The process involves crafting an ornamental frame around a central element of your choice using fine materials such as gold and silver wire, wax, beads, and cut glass. The focus is on the meditative and spiritual qualities of this extremely intricate and labor-intensive craft.
