Workshop with Amelie Schlemmer and Marlene Hübner

Together with Hybrid Dessous, you can design and sew special bathing accessories - a bathing cap, a swimming noodle, or a bathing skirt. The artists of Hybrid Dessous create unique garments inspired by their site-specific research, historical patterns, and tales of swimwear and underwear. In this workshop you can immerse yourself in Hybrid Dessous’ wild and wonderful textile lab: cotton meets glitter, transparent materials meet fur, and mesh meets lycra. This mix of textures creates an extraordinary wearing experience.

Please bring your favorite piece of swimwear, a towel, sportswear, or an article of swimwear to be altered and given new form.

Hybrid Dessous—that’s Marlene Hübner and Amelie Schlemmer—are passionate swimmers, hydrophiles, and cofounders of the Schwimmverein Donaukanal. In 2021 they completed their degrees in Social Design together at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.

The MAK it! workshop series for adults offers the opportunity to try out a variety of craft skills and innovative techniques together with designers and creators. You can create your own works of art in the unique atmosphere of the Direktion für alle.
