Vally Wieselthier began delivering glass designs for J. & L. Lobmeyr (headed by Stefan Rath) in advance of the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris, where her works were successfully presented and sold. Wieselthier‘s affiliation with Lobmeyr continued into the 1930s, resulting in a muslin glass drinking set that still in 1949 would be presented in New York at the MoMA’s Lobmeyr exhibition.

The tour of the Lobmeyr workshops and family archive shows the living tradition of handcrafted glasswork. The follow-on tour of the exhibition VALLY WIESELTHIER: Ceramic Sculptor in the MAK offers deeper insights into the artist’s oeuvre.
