With the PØPART Sessions, on 1 September 2026 a new event format premieres in the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts Vienna—one that combines art and music to create a communal experience.

The sessions kick off with Austrian musician Liz Metta and the newly created MAK permanent collection VIENNA 1900—Everyday. A Total Work of Art, designed by Austrian artist Markus Schinwald. The exhibition is not a classical chronological narrative; rather it consciously uses alternating perspectives and a thematic storyline to open up new approaches to Viennese Modernism. It builds bridges between past and present, inviting visitors to discover history with fresh eyes. This approach is taken up by the PØPART Sessions: after an exclusive guided tour, an intimate live concert by Liz Metta raises the exhibition to another level. Thus art is not simply a visual event but is experienced anew in the interplay between music, atmosphere, and encounter. With her atmospheric sound located between Dream Pop, Indie Soul, and Modern Psychedelia, Liz Metta creates multifaceted soundscapes. Among other venues, Liz Metta has appeared at the Popfest, Waves Vienna, and Poolbar Festival. In 2023 she was nominated for the New Austrian Sound of Music (NASOM) award.
