MAK on Bike Tour

A cycle tour from the Wüste (desert) to the Lobau with Jutta Matysek (Greenpeace)

Together with the Greenpeace activist Jutta Matysek, we will cycle from the building site at the U2 station Hausfeldstraße into the green Lobau national park. We will stop at key sites on the way to learn why the City’s planned feeder road is problematic and to discuss the environmental protests trying to protect the Lobau.

Our cycle tour will begin in the so-called Wüste (desert), the former site of the 2021/22 #LobauBleibt movement’s pyramid. From there we will ride via Seestadt and its development areas to Essling, where exploratory drilling has been conducted, and into the cool riparian meadows of the Lobau. There we will find out more about the long-standing fight to protect the riparian zone, a struggle that is as relevant today as it has ever been.

This Sunday cycle ride includes time for a picnic in the Lobau and ends on the banks of the New Danube. So make sure to pack your panniers with a snack, plenty of water, and maybe even swimming things. Sign up now and receive more information closer to the time.

This event is part of the supporting program for the exhibition PROTEST/ARCHITECTURE.
