As the first curator of the new format, Kathrin Pokorny-Nagel, Head of the MAK Library and Works on Paper Collection/Archive, is focusing on an important aspect of poster art: typography. The exhibition spans from the first posters that were understood as artistic handwriting by artists such as Gustav Klimt, Leopold Stolba, Alfred Roller, and the Rudolf Larisch school during the founding of the Vienna Secession, to examples of the fusion of typography and illustrations in the interwar period, such as those by Friedrich Kiesler and Joseph Binder, to contemporary poster design by Arnulf Rainer, Melk Imboden, Niklaus Troxler, and Stefan Sagmeister.
