Dialogue Tour: My Ullmann’s Contribution to Viennese Kineticism
with Kathrin Pokorny-Nagel and Sabine Plakolm-Forsthuber
At the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts, renowned for its experimental teaching methods, under Franz Čižek‘s unconventional tutelage My Ullmann becomes acquainted with a completely new style of spontaneous, intuitive drawing and painting, involving a sensitivity to rhythm and movement. Sensations and emotions are brought to paper, free range given to the artist’s innermost impulses. Ullmann thus advances to being a major representative of Viennese Kineticism. We talk with Sabine Plakolm-Forsthuber, an expert on woman-specific themes in 20th and 21st century architecture and art history, about one of the most interesting and at the same time least known art movements of 1920s Vienna.
