BIOGRAPHY
Toward the end of his studies at the Vienna University of Technology, in 1970 Adolf Krischanitz (*1946 in Schwarzach/Pongau) together with Angela Hareiter and Otto Kapfinger founded the architecture group Missing Link. In 1979 he was one of the founders of
UM_BAU, the journal of the Austrian Society for Architecture; whose chair he became in 1982.
As member and ultimately president of the Vienna Secession (1991–1995), he was responsible for the design and organization of numerous contemporary arts exhibitions. He served as a guest professor at the Technical University of Munich in 1989, as well as at summer academies in Karlsruhe (1990), Naples (1994/95), and Vienna (1996). From 1992 to 2011, he was a professor of Design and Urban Renewal at the Berlin University of the Arts.
Beginning in 1979, Krischanitz worked as a freelance architect with studios in Vienna, Berlin, and Zurich. The items from his extensive oeuvre are being handed over to the Az W – Architekturzentrum Wien, the MAK, the Archives of Contemporary Arts in Krems, and the gta Archive at ETH Zurich.
