MAK Works on Paper Room
Pervasive in shops, apartments, and workplaces, gaudy calendar pictures constitute a characteristic aspect of Indian everyday culture. Ranging from the representation of Hindu goddesses (dharmic icons) to pin-ups (filmi icons), these pictures elucidate the role of women in popular iconography. The 90 pictures shown in the exhibition including 5 original designs come from the collection of Patricia and J. P. S. Uberoi.
