Victor Burgin’s video work “The Little House” brings together a book – Jean-François de Bastide’s libertine novella “La Petite Maison”, first published in Paris in 1758 – and the Schindler House at Kings Road.Walking through the empty rooms of the building, the visitor will hear a voice reading one of the six sections of Burgin’s adaptation of the 18th-century novella “The Little House”. The two sleeping areas will be associated with the same section of the text (the “bedroom” scene), and the two garden areas will be associated with the “garden” scene. A rudimentary element of “interactivity” will be introduced in that the visitor may adapt the sequence of the scenes to their own individual passage through the rooms.
