MAK – Museum of Applied Arts
New societal challenges and innovative forms to organize work have had an impact on the design of things, as have new production techniques, marketing opportunities, and distribution channels. In the MAK exhibition, 100 selected objects—furniture, household appliances, tools, lighting, consumer electronics, and accessories as well as designs for personal care, health, and mobility—represent the diversity and innovative power of Austrian product design between 2000 to 2025. These objects are role-models for the quality of design in terms of functionality, technological innovation, conservation of resources, and ergonomics but they also show wit, charisma, and emotional appeal of products. There are surprising and exciting things to be discovered even in familiar objects.
