Water connects all forms of life. AQUATOR takes you to places where the shared use of water poses a particular challenge. These include, for example, cities around the world - places where the natural water cycle is interrupted several times, which have a very high demand for water and are particularly affected by climate change.
The AQUATOR water knowledge workshop provides information on water and climate in Vienna and combines this with exhibits from the WATER PRESSURE exhibition. AQUATOR invites you to discuss and co-create new visions of what cities of the future could look like.
The AQUATOR water knowledge game is an analog, card-based discussion game for groups of young people and adults. It provides in-depth information about water and water bodies, but also about economic, social and political factors that determine how we deal with water. It promotes an understanding of systemic relationships and makes it clear that the greatest challenges of our time - climate protection, species conservation and social justice - must be solved together. In addition, the game provides inspiration through innovations and practices of humans and other living beings in dealing with water, which promote the co-creative process of the players.
AQUATOR has been developed by the Aquator collective, Regina Hügli (One Body of Water) and Elisabeth Kopf (Design Buero Baustelle), since 2024. It was specially adapted for the workshops as part of the WATER PRESSURE exhibition.
4 pm
Closing tour with curator Jane Withers and MAK Director Lilli Hollein
This special tour led by MAK Director Lilli Hollein and curator Jane Withers, with contributions from exhibiting designers, artists, and experts, will discuss the ways that architects and designers are shaping a new water culture. We ask what is design’s role in addressing water challenges? Can exhibitions inspire visitors to visualise radically different futures, and the courage to act? Join the discussion!
