As of 3 October 2023, a new announcement can be heard at the MAK. It will alert visitors just before the museum closes about the approaching end of their visit to the museum. For this purpose, the MAK invited the Institute of Language Arts of the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Univ. Prof. Gerhild Steinbuch) to develop an artistic concept together with the MAK.
Titled Das Außen äußert sich beiläufig – Did you recognize it as a whole?, the artistic sound and text collage by Fred Heinemann, Valerie Prinz, and Leonie Ziem, which was selected from numerous proposals, can now be heard daily at the MAK.
The museum is a place that documents different realities and in doing so produces its own. Visitors absorb parts of it, take parts of it with them, and add their own. This creates a collective collection space. Before the end of the visiting time, this collective collection space connects with the outside world and invites visitors to connect their on-site experiences with the reality of the outside. Attention à l’écart, gitmek gelmektir. Come back soon!
Fred Heinemann, Valerie Prinz, and Leonie Ziem each work interdisciplinarily with a focus on language and text. They are studying at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Institute of Language Arts. Noah Rachdi works as a sound designer, he is studying Sound Design at the University of Arts in Graz.
The voices belong to:
Ellen Kelly
Victoria Kremer
Valerie Prinz
Seda Tunç
Leonie Ziem
