Dialogue Tour: From My Ullmann to Maria Ullmann: Her Work as Costume and Stage Set Designer, 1928 to 1940

with Kathrin Pokorny-Nagel and Barbara Lesák

My Ullmann works for the theater for the first time in 1928, when she designs the stage set for an amateur production of Regina Orientis in Vienna. A commission to design costumes for a performance of The Prodigal Son in Lucerne once again brings her back to the theater, where her innovative costume designs opens up new fields of activity to her. Barbara Lesák, an expert on 20th century avantgarde theater, introduces us to this little-known aspect of Ullmann’s oeuvre.
