Now the MAK is offering an unprecedented in-depth look at the history and production processes of this family-run business using the company’s own archives, large parts of which the museum has acquired since 2014 through purchases and generous donations from Richard Grubman, Auction House im Kinsky, and Caja Hagenauer. Numerous designs, models, molds, and blanks, together with a vast collection of documents and records, are now housed at the museum.

The exhibition is thus able to explore the workshop’s varied repertoire, ranging from popular figurines and innovative household objects to furnishings for public buildings and Franz Hagenauer’s major sculptural works. It also invites visitors to follow the workshop’s stylistic transformation, beginning with historic styles and the Wiener Bronzen before moving on to Art Nouveau and the Wiener Werkstätte, and, finally, functionalism.
