MAK Center Los Angeles, Schindler House

Juried exhibition of 20 conceptual architectural proposals for the site adjacent to the Schindler House, West Hollywood.

In response to the prospect of yet another neighboring condominium complex, the MAK Center at the Schindler House invited architects worldwide to submit alternative visions designed to preserve the integrity of the landmark home. Schindler's Paradise: Architectural Resistance is an exhibition of twenty significant submitted projects. Three of these were premiered by an international jury.

Jury members Frank Gehry, architect, Los Angeles; Roberto Gottardi, architect of one of the acclaimed Cuban Art Schools outside Havana; Chris Burden, artist; Michael Asher, artist; Richard Koshalek, President of Pasadena's Art Center College of Design; Peter Noever, Director, MAK, Vienna; Carl Pruscha, Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna; Judith Sheine, Chair of the Architecture Department at Cal Poly, Pomona and author of two books on the work of R.M. Schindler.
