The virtual reality makes it possible to experience the first salesroom of the Wiener Werkstätte (WW) in its reconstructed form.
It provides the opportunity to view objects based on designs by Josef Hoffmann and the Wiener Werkstätte close up in a no longer existing room. Designed by Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser, the first sales room of the Wiener Werkstätte was located in the com mer cial building in Neustiftgasse 32–34 as of 1904 and was used until the company’s bankruptcy in 1932. Today, the building still exists but the room has been destroyed. From the time of the existence of the Wiener Werkstätte, numerous images, photographs, and objects have been preserved, for example, as part of the MAK Collection and the Wiener Werkstätte Archive located there. These served as models for the virtual reconstruction of the sales room.

From December 2022 until April 2023, it will be possible to experience the virtual reality of the sales room of the Wiener Werkstätte in the Permanent Collection “Vienna 1900” at  the MAK as well as from May 2023 at its branch, the Josef Hoffmann Museum in Brtnice (CZ, in cooperation with the Moravian Gallery in Brno and the City of Brtnice). “

Virtually Wiener Werkstätte” is part of the project ATCZ264 (JH Neu digital / JH Nově digitální) and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund within the cooperation programme INTERREG  V-A Austria – Czech Republic 2014–2020.
